Honestly, every time I think about this movie nothing but pure joy and laughter comes across my mind. I covered a private screening of the film Tuesday night in Philly. The the theater was full of women and a few guys too. The excitement for the highly anticipated film was definitely felt in the theater. I brought one of my favorite girls ( my grandmother ) as my special guest. I figured it would be interesting to hear her thoughts on the film since we are 64 years apart. Might I say it was absolutely hilarious to watch her reaction to certain scenes ( just thinking about it makes me want to put crying emojis continuously in this space) . Anyways, Girls Trip is for every women just like the 1978 hit single "I'm Every Women" written by Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson , Performed by the great Chaka Khan and then remixed by the incredible Whitney Houston in 1992. This film is exactly what we needed in this generation. Each character depicted a different relative story that each lady could relate to and yet they all shared some similarities. I'm definitely not going to spoil the movie for you in this review because I want you to have the best time seeing this beautiful cast of amazing women and handsome talented men. All in all this movie is going to a favorite new-school classic. One things for sure I have to go to New Orleans and Essence Festival with my girls. From beginning to end the theater was full of laughter , smiles, and outburst from different audience members during different scenes. However, we all had a great time. I also met some really cool ladies at the screening. That's what it's about ! This film was needed. The director Malcolm D. Lee and producer Will Packer did an outstanding job along with the writers Kenya Barris , Tracy Oliver, from a story by Erica Rivinoja, who based the script off their own experiences of going out with her girlfriends . Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Tiffany Haddish, Jada Pinkett Smith, Larenz Tate Mike Colter, and Kofi Siriboe star n the film. You're in for a non-stop treat of sugar, spice, and everything right with this film. So let's go break the box office and support these amazing entertainers. So grab your girls , mom , aunt, cousins, sisters , or grandma and get the theater July 21, 2017 (opening day ) and go see "Girls Trip" .

Yo Yo Ya Yo welcome to Atlanta where them players play and we ride on dem things like everyday . On the second episode of "The Rap Game" from executive producers Jermaine Dupri and Queen Latifah, Jermaine Dupri took his five young stars for a ride through Atlanta. He had them meet at the Greenbriar Mall to inform them of their next challenge. He informed them that he was taking them for a ride through Atlanta and that they had to write a rap about what they saw, and then rap about it tomorrow in booth. So, Jermaine Dupri showed them Cameron Rd where Kriss Kross and Outkast are from, the famous Cascade Skating Ring, Old National Highway and then he showed them his childhood home which he said he hasn't been to in 20 years. He let the young artist know he started producing when he was 14 and he recorded TLC and Kriss Kross there. During the kids tour through the A their parents were back at the house wondering what they were up to. Once the kids got back on the trolley Jermaine Dupri turned on the beat produced by Mike Kalombo. So these five artist had their notepads out an pens flying. Jermaine Dupri questioned Lil Poopy because he fell asleep during the ride back home ( Awwww man) . I think it was so cool that Jermaine showed them around the Atlanta and I thought this was a really dope challenge . Once they arrived back to the house they let their parents know about their day in the A. Supa Peach let her sister know that a writing challenge had taken place and Precious Peach her sister tweaked her verse a little bit. The other artist are already questioning if Supa Peach writes her own raps. Miss Mulatto , Young Lyric, and Lil Niqo were definitely ready to hit the booth. So for the second part of the challenge Jermaine Dupri has the kids come to South Side Studio (where Mariah Carey , Bow Wow, and so many top artist have recorded) . So Mike Kalombo , Rufus Morgan, and Jermaine Dupri have each artist come in to record their song, Young Lyric goes first and you could definitely tell she was coming out of her shell and a more confident then she was the week before (because she didn't feel that #5 spot was acceptable). So Jermaine's advice to her was to slow down and to have clarity. Young Lyric was happy because she wrote the verse herself without her dad to critique it. You GO GIRL!! Lil Poopy hit the booth and started rapping his verse with the same lyrics that he spit during his challenge last week. Of course Jermaine Dupri stopped him and had to check him about his verse before he finished his song. Lil Niqo flow and delivery was on point he even dropped his notebook but he didn't really include the things he saw during the tour. Miss Mulatto came in the booth with a verse a hook and her confidence was just super high. Mike Kalombo asked Supa Peach to spit before she got in the booth and him and Rufus didn't feel that she wrote her verse. So they had her go get her book and then rap in the booth. I think this was a very creative challenge. It showed their on the spot ability to write, rap, and perform in the studio. So it's time for Jermain Dupri's hit list. Jermaine Dupri is straight up with these kids and their parents . He's letting them know "The Rap Game' isn't a game and that they have to be serious about everything.Producer Mike Kolombo joined Jermaine to assist Jermaine during his critique.
1-Miss Mulatto (Delivered an actual song) 2 Young Lyric (Mike Kolombo said she was shy but she turned up Jermaine and Mike said she just has to articulate and be more clear) 3 Lil Niqo (Sounded very professional but his verse could've included more about what he saw) 4 Supa Peach (They found out Precious Peach her big sister helps with her raps) 5 Lil Poopy (He fell asleep on the bus and he reused his rap) Jermaine Dupri is letting these young stars and there parents know that they have to be serious, on point, and be able to handle these task because time is money and this business is important. He also said "Its nothing wrong with being a songwriter or helping with lyrics because he wrote tons of songs for other artist". He just wants these young stars to be able to write, deliver, and perform like a true artist. So week #2 was definitely a really big challenge for them. We are six weeks away from finding out which one of these talented young artist earned their spot on Jermaine Dupri's So So Def record label. F.Y.I Immediately after the show you know I had to go play Jermaine Dupri's "Welcome To Atlanta" ft Ludacris video on full blast. So make sure you watch "The Rap Game" next week Friday at 10PM/9C. Make sure you #TheRapGame for updates and more on the show. |
