"The opportunity is in your mentality"- J.Cole
Tonight J.Cole released his "Forest Hills Drive Homecoming" on HBO. The concert film included a full show from J.Cole, interviews from his supporters, interviews with people from his home-town Fayetteville, North Carolina, his friends, his mom, and his video updates from himself. I really enjoyed watching the concert although I wish I could've attended the actual tour and see him perform live. Sidebar : I really want some Krispey Kreme so bad (laughs). J.Cole is very motivational and his town looks up to him because he showed them that they can make it. One of the interviewees referred to him as the "King of Fayetteville". J.Cole expressed that he wants to do more for his town and that he even contemplates becoming mayor or city council one day. The fact that J.Cole was driving and just sharing his thoughts and feelings it emitted a very personal vibe as if we were actually riding with him. He expressed that it's so important to enjoy, remember, feel, and soak in the moment and appreciate everything. J.Cole's album "2014 Forest Hills Drive" is certified Gold. The album was definitely a game changer in the world of hip hop . During the film he talked about stepping into a new chapter in life in which he's focused on becoming a better human, a better man, and just grow as a person. The interview from his mom was so sweet and loving. You can tell she's proud of her son. She said "I tell Jermaine everyone loves him but not as much as me". She was so happy and expressed that people will be talking about her son's concert and music for decades. Just watching J.Cole perform and tell his story on stage is inspiring. Again shout out to my friend Davon Gaskins for putting me on J.Cole in college (I will forever thank him for that lol). Just seeing J.Cole talk about wanting to perform at Crown Coliseum in his hometown and then for it to actually happen is just proof that if we stay focused and dedicated we can make it anywhere. When I purchased "2014 Forest Hill Drive" and listened to it straight through I realized the first word on the album was "Do" and the last word was "Love" ( I wrote about thathere) . That's what counts in this life! Love is so important. We have to love ourselves, each other, the things we have, and our gifts and talents. J.Cole definitely appreciated his fans for supporting him and he brought out Drake and Jay Z to perform. For updates on @JColeNC follow him on Twitter. S/o to J.Cole and the entire Dreamville !!

Do you know that the first word on 2014 Forest Hills Drive , album by J.Cole is "DO" and the very last word on the album is "LOVE". Deep when you think about it. J.Cole has always spoke openly about serious issues in communities , his personal life, and the world through his music, interviews, videos , as well as on stage. He doesn't just talk about helping , he's helped. He's gone to Ferguson, marched, touched teens lives through "Dreamville" Records, and more. Song after song from J.Cole contains a special message that may go over a lot of people's head. J.Cole is not afraid to high light what's important and what's really happening in the world and that's what I love about him. (I am forever thankful for my friend Davon Gaskins who put me on J.Cole and made me a true admirer of his music). The fact that the "DO" is the first thing J.Cole says on the album is powerful because action is power. The more we do the more that happens. There's always a cause and effect. So the more goodness we do in our communities , schools, homes, families, relationships and most of all ourselves we will start to gain good results. Its also important for us to do great things together. Just think of the transformation that would happen because we put aside differences to be one. J.Cole has also discussed racism in his music and that alone has destroyed lives for years. No matter what color you are , you are a human being and you deserve to be treated as so. If we joined one another regardless of skin color just think of what that would "DO" in the world. Lives would change, the violence would stop, poverty wouldn't be at an all time high. Thinking is definitely something we all should do . Tupac said it "We need more thinkers".
The last word on the album is "LOVE". Love is everything. Love is all that matters. It's a feeling, it's a lifestyle, it's a action, love is everything. You truly have to learn to love life through the good and the bad. Love God and most of all note to self, love yourz. LOVE is something to we all can DO. A lot of drama, pain , and suffering could end if people extended their heart. You don't have to be super rich to give your heart. Last time I checked smiles and words of encouragement are free. Sharing your story, mentoring the youth, helping someone out are all ways to spread love. If you have family be thankful! If you have what you need in life be thankful. The key is to love God, love ourselves, and love another and the world can change for the better. J.Cole is currently on tour, you can get tickets (here).
