Khemist has lyrically conquered multiple beats. Sharing his life and speaking on every day issues meanwhile still using his lyrics to uplift , he has perfectly puzzle pieced everything that the game needs. He is not afraid to stand flat footed , go against the grain and project the deep thoughts that he has in my mind and his heart. Although he embraces world-wide topics in his music, he still vividly paints pictures of his Philly - born "Logan Valley" bread story . He isn't you average "rapper" . You have to listen to him and sometimes run things back just in case the intensity of the lyrics or his profound vocabulary went over your head. Khemist just released a project "WOLVES" and has a few other things in the works , so it was about time that we did and interview, check it out below.
1. The Mogul Girl : What does hip hop mean to you? Khemist : It is an outlet for me to express myself and be creative with different sounds and sh*t like that. 2. The Mogul Girl : You've done a lot of shows . What has been your all time favorite set ? Khemist : I was in D.C at Bohemian Tavern. I did a show with BJ Simmons ( a jazz artist). So it was a hip hop/jazz set. I recently did the Clef Club and had a ten piece band. I like it when I get to bring in instruments and can rock out with no restrictions. 3.The Mogul Girl : If you can change anything about the music industry what would it be? Khemist : Politics. It gets deep. I've seen a lot of things and its been a lot of foul sh*t . It's a uphill battle but I knew this when I started. 4.The Mogul Girl : I'm from North Philly you're from Logan Valley what has growing up in your part of the city taught you? Khemist : A bunch of street lessons and different codes. I know a lot of Cambodians and picked up on a few Cambodian words. Their language is "Khmer". I grew up in a house full of musicians and we had a piano. On the weekends when I went to my grandma's house in Nicetown she had a piano too and my uncle was a jazz musician. So I've always been surrounded by music. 5.The Mogul Girl: What are you currently working on ? Khemist : The "Wolves" EP is out with Zaytona and DJ Rick Geez .Rick is from Philly but lives in V.A and he DJ's for Pusha T. My album is coming . I've been working on it for two years. 6.The Mogul Girl : Besides music what are some other things you're interested in doing? Khemist : Reading , poetry, spoken word, and helping homeless people. I love art. When I was 12 my mom put me in art school. So I like painting with pastels and water colors. 7.The Mogul Girl : If you could have collaborated with any artist that passed away who would it be and why ? Khemist : Michael Jackson! Just the music, instrumentals, high musicality, you can't find that anywhere else. I'd also collaborate with Prince. Since I've been in the studio I've referenced to and learned from Michael Jackson. Its one thing to hear great sh*t and know that it's great. It is another reason to want to know why it's great. Michael Jackson said in an interview once that " I study the great people". So that's why I study him. 8.The Mogul Girl : Is there anything you want The Mogul Minute readers to know ? Khemist : The "WOLVES" EP is out. Scrap Metal 2 is in the works . The album is coming but there's still so much more to be done. 9: The Mogul Girl : Since I ask everybody about food in my interviews , what's your go to favorite food ? Khemist : I would say a cheese steak but I haven't eaten meat in four months . I'm trying to change my diet. Its not easy but I still like whiting fish , so you could consider me being Pescetarian . It was so dope to interview Khemist, because he's definitely been putting in a lot work in the studio and on every stage he's touched. He's lyrically telling his testimony from the streets . So get the "WOLVES" EP and stay on the look out for his upcoming album. written by Straight out of Brooklyn to Hollywood. Manny Halley, CEO of Imani Entertainment Group (IEG) has successfully made an influential mark in the entertainment industry. With tons of titles under his belt and multiple companies under his IEG umbrella ( including Imani Management, Imani Records (EMI/Capitol), Imani Publishing (Warner/Chappell) and Imani Film and Television. It's clear to see , he is a major figure in the industry and he's all about as the lovely Iyanla Vanzant would say " doing the work".
Manny is dedicated , focused, and vision-driven. The mogul, father, CEO, and Founder is set on making Imani Entertainment Group and unforgettable empire. His passion for achieving and being great is evident. So without further ado here is my exclusive interview with Manny Halley. 1) The Mogul Girl : What does passion, hard work, and entertainment mean to you ? Manny Halley : I believe my creative mind allows me to be a visionary. I always see individuals as what they can become verses where they see themselves today. I pride myself on my tremendous work ethic and flexible personality, both of which allow me to search and find alternative solutions to any challenge. "NO" is not an option in my book.... 2) The Mogul Girl : You grew up in Brooklyn. What has Brooklyn taught you that you cherish the most? Manny Halley : Frank Sinatra sang: "If you can make it there, you'll make it anywhere...." Don't fear the concrete jungle, conquer it in style. Living in Brooklyn taught me that with an outstanding work ethic and a positive mindset, there is absolutely nothing I couldn't accomplish. If I'm in bed, I'm working, my mind is going!!!! 3) The Mogul Girl : You're responsible for the careers of a lot of artists. In turn, what have they taught you? Manny Halley : Thank you, but I am not responsible for their careers. These artists did that themselves. I have always been honest with them, and always put them in the best possible position in order for them to be successful. I even put them first. Booker T. Washington once said, "Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life, as by the obstacles which he/she has overcome." Each artist has individual and unique talents and I have been able to identify their strengths to overcome their perceived obstacles. I like when they focus on being creative and let me do the business. It's a unique marriage/Partnership. 4) The Mogul Girl : As a mogul in all aspects of the business, what are you currently working on? Manny Halley : I am currently working with a couple of artists as well as working on my second movie, "Dutch". Working on these movies has really expanded my horizon learning every aspect of the entertainment industry. I am learning everything from the ground up and I'm excited about this new venture, I'm a Movie producer now :)....... 5) The Mogul Girl : The entertainment business is serious and strategic. What is some advice you can share for people that want to enter the business? Manny Halley : a. This is not an easy business. It's tough. But anything worthwhile is worth working for it and I can tell you with all sincerity and certainty, it is worth it. If it were easy, everyone would do it. b. Surround yourself with people of character, and always maintain your integrity and smile. c. This business requires a tremendous amount of work for long periods of time. It is not a get rich quick business. d. Have fun. Don't take yourself too seriously. Never be afraid to lose something as long as you are doing the right thing. These things will help you to stay in the business long term. 6) The Mogul Girl : I saw the post about you linking up with Teri Woods to bring "True To The Game" to the big screen. How has that experience been? Manny Halley : Working with Teri has been incredible. Her book sold over 2 million copies worldwide. So I guess about 4 million people read it. Now, we're thrilled to bring her words, in stories still relevant today, to life on the big screen. 7) The Mogul Girl : What was your biggest dream as a kid? Manny Halley : I always wanted to be able to provide for my parents and for my children. I dreamed of being in control of my own destiny and I always wanted to make a difference in this world. I am blessed and grateful that as an entrepreneur, I am able to utilize my talents to make it happen. I'm a people person, God gave me that gift. If you know me you'll know how big my heart is and how I will always find a positive out of any situation. 8) The Mogul Girl : What's your favorite Bible verse of all time? Manny Halley : I'll give you 2...... James 2:14-26 "Faith without Works is Dead" John 16:33 "In Life you will have Difficulties, BUT be of good cheer"..... Manny cherished his Brookyln roots and didn't let his dreams get deterred. He stayed true to his vision and didn't stop. He took control of his destiny and he is a mega success. Huge thank you to Manny Halley for doing this interview. I greatly appreciated and I'm looking forward to what's next. Special thanks to his daughter and "True To The Game" star actress Iyana Halley for locking this in! Continued success and blessings to both of you and Teri Woods as well! Curateurs.com to become the leading fashion discovery and lifestyle website for men where influencers & celebrities reveal their style. (Los Angeles, CA – June 2, 2016) – Today fashion and style entrepreneurs, Greg Selkoe, Allen and Kyle Onyia, partner with Silicon Valley veterans, Dr. Paul Judge and Cedric J. Rogers to announce the launch of their joint venture, Curatuers.com. Curateurs is a revolutionary new website for men’s fashion which aims to be the go-to place to purchase exclusive items curated by the world’s most sought after influencers and celebrities. By showcasing fashion from your favorite style influencers and today’s hottest celebrities, Curateurs combines the power of celebrity influence with technology, but in an authentic way not yet seen before. How? Not only will top celebrities showcase some of their favorite limited edition items and brands, but they will allow users to buy items straight out of their personal closets and private collections creating a one of-a-kind entertaining shopping experience that directly reflects their personal lifestyle. And because of this unique opportunity, most products are available at Curateurs.com and nowhere else. “We want to provide our customers with hard to find expertly curated stuff ,” says co-founder, Greg Selkoe. “There has been a lack of innovation in the fashion shopping experience, especially for men,” adds Dr. Paul Judge, Chairman, Curateurs. “Paul and I began reaching out to our contacts in the influencer and celebrity community. The resounding response was, ‘yes we want to share our lifestyle’ and ‘yes we have what amounts to billions in goods to sell or products we love.’ We knew we were onto something big!” continues Greg. How it works: The Curateurs’ team scours the globe to find the best cultural influencers. The focus is on style and substance not just fame. The invited “Curateur” is interviewed and talks passionately about the products they have picked. Then the website showcases photos and videos of Curateur style looks and provides a community platform where users can discuss said looks, save favorites to style boards, and/or buy them, creating a blend of content, community, and commerce. Dr. Judge comments, “Everyone wants to be cool particularly our demographic. The great thing about Curateurs is that it has everything from the expensive Sotheby’s like pieces such as Ryan Leslie’s Grand Piano to street wear like Jeff Staple’s Staple Pigeon brand.” Greg adds, “the thread that ties all the products together is that they are all authentically part of the influencers lifestyle.” The founders of Curateurs have had significant successas in both fashion and technology. Greg Selkoe was founder of Karmaloop, a leading men’s e-commerce company that grew to $100 million in annual sales. Allen and Kyle Onyia are founders of UpscaleHype, a high-end lifestyle online magazine that focuses on what celebrities wear. Cedric J. Rogers is a 10-year Apple veteran and Dr. Paul Judge, has been co-founder and executive at several successful technology companies including CipherTrust, Purewire, Barracuda, Pindrop and Luma. The newest team member Steve Birkhold, a 30-year veteran of the fashion industry having served as the CEO of Bebe and Lacoste, along with a 10-year tenure at VF recently came on board to add more fire power to an already formidable team. The first 3 Curateurs for launch are: designer Jeff Staple, one of Hip-Hop’s biggest rising stars A$AP Ferg, and Grammy Award Winner, Ryan Leslie. Today on January 30,2015 I got an exclusive behind the scenes look at the exotic, pre-production, classic, concept, and product cars on Media Day. There are 49 manufacturers with 700 cars displayed over the 700,000 square foot Convention Center. There is definitely a vehicle that will excite the car lover in you. Walking into the auto show exhibit the NIssan GTR immediately caught my eye. I interviewed Steven Oldham the Nissan North America PR Manager about the Nissan GTR. The Mogul Girl: So tell me about the Nissan GTR? Steven Oldham: So this is as we call it our super car. It has 545 horse power and its unbelievably fast. We call it sort of a halo car. We don’t sell many of these but its been around the Nissan line up for a number of years. It has a very huge following in the United States and Japan. Its for that single person that wants a car that is fun to drive. Its starts at a little over 100,000. Its definitely a fun style car. The car is so powerful it is nicknamed Godzilla. The Mogul Girl : What’s your favorite thing about this vehicle? Steven Oldham: The power. You floor this thing. You actually get sucked into the seat, thats how powerful it is. I ventured over to the Jaguar display and checked out the Jaguar F-Type. After getting inside the very luxurious vehicle I interviewed Jaguar Representative Loraine. The F-Type is definitely a great two seater sports car. I definitely loved the style and features of the F-Type. The Bentley, Ashton Martin, Rolls Royce Ghost, Lamborghini Huracan, and LP 700-4 are very exotic, exclusive and brilliant vehicles. The colors are super appealing. You can’t help but gravitate to these beauties. You will definitely fall for them. I absolutely love the LP 700-4. Jeep Camp was so much fun. I sat in the passenger seat of the Jeep Rubicon 2015 as the professional 4X4 driver TJ gave me the full experience of The Jeep Test Track adventure zone. The Rubicon is very spacious. This was definitely a interesting interactive part of the auto show. The Ford display was superb. Ford Representative James Tobin gave me the best tour of the latest Ford models. He was a great interview and such a kind person. Make sure you stop by the Ford display and see all the great vehicles. The 2015 Ford F-150 is truly Ford Tough. The Mercedes Benz and Lexus display is incredible. The vibrant colors and beautiful interior is beyond fantastic. One of their classy models are guaranteed to draw you in. These vehicles are truly great.
