Amariyanna "Mari" Copeny AKA "Little Miss Flint" just celebrated her 10th birthday this month. At 10 years old she is already changing the game and taking great strides to make epic changes in the world. She recently was interviewed at the "Girls Up" Summit and spoke about justice , girls rights , and wanting change. Despite there still being a water crisis in Flint , Mari wants to bring smiles and help her fellow peers in a major way. Today she announced her #PackYourBackChallenege. She wants to get 100 + backpacks stuffed with supplies donated for the kids of Flint, Michigan. Mari is all about helping others and this donation of school supplies will greatly help the children of Flint. Pack Your Back is an organization that is committed to providing resources to students in need . I agree with their message that the only way a student can succeed in school is if they have the proper supplies to do so. So with that said , the links to donate are listed below . Mari you truly are a leader , continue to have a big heart and be the incredible young lady that you are.

Yassin Bey is it okay if I call you Mos Def? I heard your "No More Parties In S.A" freestyle , the message that you are being detained in Cape Town South Africa, and that you are releasing your last album this year and retiring. My heart dropped. I began to think why or how can they stop the Travellin Man ? A man with so much power, intelligence, knowledge, and impact can not be let back into the country where he was born and raised. S/o to your city Brooklyn . I use to stay up at night to watch you on "Def Poetry Jam" and see you rip the stage every time. I remember I wanted to be on that show and be able to share my writing with world. Anyway I'm sure you heard that there's a crisis going on in Flint Michigan and their water is full of chemicals and toxins that are making them ill they can't even bathe, cook with, or drink the water. I wrote an article on "New World Water" because it reminded me of the very situations you talked about on that song back in 1999 and it's 2016 . Black On Both Sides is still one of the greatest albums of all time. I remember thinking that maybe if you were my math teacher, that all the mathematics would make sense. How many times did I watch "Brown Sugar" and vibe out to your performance? You said I got two words for the world "Be Prepared". "Brown Sugar" the song is still beautifully written and you made everyone feel it from the the ceiling to the ground floor. Man you are hip hop. Listening to "Fear Not Of Man" and hearing you say "God is sufficient over plans they prepared". On your new message you said " This is not an expression of fear this is just to make things clear, my intentions were pure in coming here and that's for everything I love or hold dear. Umi's in the building and so is my wife and my children. I've committed no crime why is the state wasting my time. They must be out of their mind. I forgive them that's the spirit of divine. I just want to go where I'm wanted where I'm loved stop fronting. Where I live is my choice. You can not mute my voice". No your voice cannot be muted ever . Your whole life is real, morning, noons and night is real, what you spit and write is real . You reached the world but touched the streets first. Your street- telligence is cherished. Thank you! Stay strong. I pray that everything changes and that you are allowed to leave and live where you choose. No crime, no logical reason, false claims stating that your traveling document a ( World Passport) is fictitious? You said "It’s been accepted here in South Africa on numerous occasions as early as 1996 and as late as 2015. So honestly it doesn't add up why you can't leave. Stay mighty! "Faith is the arrow". Your views, lyrics, and topics you've spoken on carry weight. You linking up with the incredible Talib Kweli will forever be epic. Waiting for the album! You are truly one of the illest world wide!
- Inspired for ever The Mogul Girl Either we all change or we all fall - Tupac There's so much going on in the world and instead of separating we need to continue to unify. In this interview of Tupac ( I've searched for this entire video but I can't find it) however this footage is so powerful. There's positive and heartbreaking things occurring that really need to change. The water crisis in Flint Michigan is stomach turning and from numerous articles posted today (we've learned this issue could have been prevented) but to see people uniting to send water and money to help the situation is incredible . Meek Mill has donated sending 60k bottles of JUST Water to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan . Motivational writer/speaker/entrepreneur Nehemiah Davis of Philadelphia has started a mission #Philly2Flint to send 10,000 waters to help with the men, women , and children of the city. Meanwhile this crisis is going on the issue of diversity at this years 88th annual Academy Awards has gained tons of attention. Numerous celebrities, directors, bloggers, etc have expressed their opinions and feelings about the lack of African American people being nominated and awarded for their work in the entertainment industry. ( I believe people should be honored for their hard work whether they're are a platinum selling artist, an incredible actor, or the top employee at your local fast food restaurant) . However in this vintage interview of Tupac he mentioned some very important statements about Hollywood. Indeed if we make a change in America as a nation and as people things will also change in other areas. Yes we should be honored for our work in the industry instead of just being "entertainers" however we also need to realize that we as people no matter what race should be treated equally . The ultimate goal is to have peace in all forms and areas. I agree with Tupac's statement that it is time for "America to see how they look at minorities". We have faced racial injustice for years on multiple levels. Yes, there are some incredible films directed by, written by, and featuring some very incredible African American entertainers and for none of them to be nominated this year is outrageous and that definitely needs to change . The impact that the celebrities have showed for this matter received a quick response from Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs . Which only shows that if we come together more often about events and issues we can not only get a response but also a positive actual effect that could possibly change the negativity. Listen to the points Pac emphasized in this interview years ago . It's 2016 and it's official we need to realize that "Either we change or we all fall". "We gotta make a change... It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes. Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live and let's change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do what we gotta do, to survive". - Tupac |
