Can you believe that we are three weeks from the finale of The Rap Game? In three weeks Jermaine Dupri will crown his new So So Def artist. Over the course of five weeks J.D has tested the kids on their ability to writing/record, style, dance, and now he's testing them on creative collaboration. Jermaine said " Collabs are a big thing in the biz". So this week Jermaine Dupri and Jny Flowers separated the top five into two groups along with their parentgers. Group 1 consisted of Miss Mulatto, Lil Poopy, and Supa Peach. Group 2 consisted of Young Lyric and Lil Niqo. Jermaine Dupri wants the kids and their parents to know the importance of artist being able to work together as artist. On this episode Young Lyric's mom left so her dad could assist Young Lyric because he helps Lyric with her music. Group 1 and Group 2 were hard at work coming up with a concept, writing, and performing their song. So J.D brought the kids to to the Sound Lab to perform for him and B.Cox. During the practice performance both teams were critiqued and they had to leave with their critiques, go back home and practice their songs. The next day Jermaine Dupri brought the kids to Redan High School were he was waiting with Silento known for his RIAA certified Platinum single "Watch Me Whip (Whip/NaeNae) . Silento attends the high school and he took the top five on a brief tour of the school and answered a few questions. He expressed to his peers that "It's important for them to be real in their music because once everyone finds out it's not you, it's a wrap". So after spending sometime with Silento, J.D informed the kids that they'll be performing their song in front of 900 kids at their pep rally and they had to go get ready. When the kids stepped into the gymnasium the students were screaming and showing off their school's pride. So it was show time. Young Lyric and Lil Niqo performed their song first and they did an excellent job. They collaborated well together and fed off of each others energy. Their song was fresh and they were all the way live. The crowd was energized and they got into the crowd. The audience and J.D were pleased with their performance. After they rocked the gym Miss Mulatto, Lil Poopy, and Supa Peach performed. Their song was catchy . Miss Mulatto's energy was up, Lil Poopy definitely turned up his performance, and Supa Peach forget her verse. Supa Peach said " She wasn't use to collaborating, so that's why she messed up". So after their performances they headed back to their house in the A. During this time the parentgers were hashing out. Shayne and Precious Peach bump heads a lot and they don't really agree on anything. So when Jermaine came to do his HIT LIST, he had to reevaluate it based on the disagreements and the bad energy in the house. So this weeks HIT LIST went like this 1. Lil Niqo 2.Miss Mulatto 3.Young Lyric and Lil Poopy 4. Supa Peach This week was definitely about hard work and performance. The top five know that they have to really step it up if they want to win. J.D said next week they really better have their sh*t together because someone is going home next week. Jermaine Dupri is making it clear that you have to put your all into the rap game. This week Jermaine Dupri tested the kids on their ability to follow direction, and pay attention. It's week four and everyone wants that number one spot. There's a little tension in the house. The parents want the best for the kids so they are definitely rooting for their superstar to come out on top. Jermaine Dupri and his assistant Jyn brought the kids to Dance 411 Studious in Atlanta for a dance workshop with choreographer Sean Bankhead. Sean Bankhead has worked with Beyonce, Ciara, OMG Girlz , and Diddy just to name a few. The girls were excited about this class but the guys not so much. Sean Bankhead taught the kids a routine and then they had to perform for Jermaine Dupri. Despite the challenge Lil Niqo still participated in the class. Nique and Lil Niqo's bond is so strong and to hear her discuss Lil Niqo's medical condition and how he still managed to pull through. That's real love. She works hard for her son and he works hard for his mom. Jermaine Dupri viewed the class and told the boys they have to step it up. He said "Everything that the artist do is written in pen and it pencil it's forever". After Jermaine's Dupri's workout the kids went home to rest. For day two Jermaine Dupri took the kids to a focus group where they were the object of focus. So Jermaine Dupri and Jyn had a group of kids judge their fellow peers on their image, music, and video. These kids were very opinionative and made it clear how they felt about each artist. The artist, Jermaine Dupri, and the parents sat back and watched the kids tell Jyn their likes and dislikes. The girls thought Lil Niqo was cute and he did good . Lil Poopy had a good style but they felt his song sucked. They liked Young Lyric's style and they loved her video. They liked Miss Mulatto's flow, and they loved Supa Peach flow, style, video and said that they would but her music. With critiques from their peers the kids headed back to the house for Jermaine Dupri's
"HIT LIST" This weeks hit list 1-Supa Peach 2- Lil Niqo 3-Miss Mulatto 4-Young Lyric 5-Lil Poopy It's official we are four weeks from Jermaine Dupri picking his next So So Def artist. It's getting exciting and the pot is stirring. These kids want that record deal. At this point they're working hard for it. Jermaine Dupri still wants to make sure that the can take criticism, shake off my haters, and continue to see if they are truly a brand. Stay tuned to #TheRapGame

These young artist have gained thousands and millions of views online, collaborated with celebrities, toured, and have gained a strong following on social media. These kids are definitely talented. For eight weeks the kids and their parents/managers will live together . On the first episode Jyn Flowers (assistant to Jermaine Dupri) informed the kids that her boss was waiting for them . The kids and their parents headed over to T.I' s restaurant Scales 925 in Atlanta. When the kids arrived they met T.I and then the kids were introduced to the celebrity judge panel which included Brian Michael Cox, Da Brat, Polow Da Don, Johnte Austin, and Mike Kalambo. Then Jermaine dropped the bomb that the kids had to freestyle on the spot. Although the kids were surprised each of them stepped up to the plate and dropped a quick verse for the judges. The Rap isn't all glitz and glamour and you have to work your way up. o Jermaine Dupri informed them all that they would be interns . He gave each of the youth a task. During their task each kid was paired with a certain mentor. For example Lil Niqo was paired with Ludacris and Supa Peach was paired with Jyn Flowers (Jermaine Dupri's assistant) . During their task they had to rap about what they were doing .How well these kids do all count towards Jermaine Dupri's hit list. Each week he'll rank each kid from 1-5 and let's just say you want that number 1 spot.
The first week hit list went like this 5- Lyrikk 4-Lil Niqo 3-Lil Poopy 2-Miss Mulatto 1-Supa Peach The show is interesting and the kids definitely have work to put in. I interviewed Lil Niqo when he was 10 and had dropped his record "Okay Then" so its so cool to see him at 16 following his dreams and 1Mama Mogul is right by his side (you can listen here) . I also have been tuned into Young Lyric's upcoming as well. I commend all the young kids for aiming for their dreams and not giving up. So make sure you watch "The Rap Game" each week to see what happens next and find out whom is going to get that spot on Jermaine's "So So Def" label. |
