A Few Weeks Ago Comedian/Actor Trey Moe Also Known As TreyMoeShow On Youtube Shared Kyra Sneed's "1st And 15th" Video. I Was Intrigued By Her Talent And Wanted To Share It With The Mogul Minute Blog Readers And The World.
Kyra Sneed 20 , Born In Jacksonville, Florida And Was Raised In A Single Parent Home In Mobile,Alabama. Kyra Started Singing At 2 Stating " I Didn't Speak Until I Sang" . She Finished The End Of A Song On The Radio And Has Been Singing Ever Since.Writing Is A True Passion Of Kyra's And She Appreciates Everyone That Supports And Takes Time To Listen To Her Speak. The 1st And 15th Poem Was Heart Felt And You Could Emotionally Grasp To The Words Stated In The Poem. I Reached Out To Kyra Via Twitter For An Interview And She Agreed. So Check Out Her Feature On The Mogul Minute First Ever "The Mogul Minute Get Mogul Friday's Blog" . 1.How Did Writing Get You Through Tough Times? What Did You Gain From It? It Helped Me Express My Emotions In The Most Constructive Way Possible. Growing Up, I Had A Difficult Time Handling My Anger And Frustration . I Never Wanted To Talk To Anybody But I Knew Bottling It Up Was A Bad Idea .So Writing Became A Perfect Medium. I Gained Stability And It Made Me More Focused And Less Stressed. 2.How Did Growing Up In A Single Parent Home Affect You? It Affected Me A Lot. I Would Always Dream Of My Father And Notice Mannerisms In Myself That I Didn't See In My Mother Or Her Side Of The Family . I Often Wondered "Did My Dad Do This? Did I Get This From Him?". My Father Being Absent From My Life And My Mother Having To Deal With Her Own Feelings Towards Him And Raise Me, The Child Who Looked JUST Like Him, Was Particularly Difficult As Well. 3.Whats One Of Your Favorite Songs Or Poems? One Of My Favorite Poems Of All Time Has To Be "Waiting" By Alyssa Harris, Jasmine Mans, And Jennah Bell. They Are Apart Of The Strivers Row And Are Actually Some Of My Favorite Poets. The Poem Speaks To Me In So Many Ways And It's So Raw And Beautiful. 4.If You Don't Mind Sharing What Inspired You To Write 1st And 15th It Was Truly Deep? It Came From A Situation About Two Years Ago Where Someone Very Close To Me, Someone I Looked To As A Strong Motherly Figure In My Life, Pretty Much Dropped Off The Face Of The Earth From Me. To This Day, I Don't Know What Happened. It Was Like One Day We Were Great, Perfect Even And The Next, I Was The Enemy. The Confusion, Frustration And Pain All Came Out In That Poem As A Sorrowful Cry Out To Just Find An Aswer And Let My Feeling Be Known. It Still Hurts Me Because I Still Don't Know Why And I Still Miss Her Dearly But, I Think That's Something That I Might Just Have To Live With. 5.If You Could Collaborate With Any Poet/Writer In History Who Would It Be And Why? It's A Common Choice But, Maya Angelou Of Course. I've Admired Her Work All My Life. Her Poems, The Way She Speaks, The Magic In Her Word Has Always Been Mind Blowing To Me. Nearly Every Poem I've Ever Heard By Her Has Emotionally Moved Me And Brought Tears To My Eyes. Her Work Is Remarkable And Timeless. 6.What Do You Think Of The Term "Bitch" And How It Is Used In Today's World Amongst Men And Women? I Believe That The Generation We're In Now, We're Innovators. We Like To Turn Everything Positive For The Most Part.We Use Bitch So Freely That It's Looked At As More Of A Positive Term Than A Negative One. I Remember When I Was About 11 , Bitch Was A Fighting Word. If You Called A Boy Or Girl That, You're Asking For A Fight. It May Sound Unorthodox To The Older Generations For Us To Now Use It As A Friendly Term But What Else Should We Do With Such A Nasty Word? Why Not Make It Positive And Something That's Endearing And Shows The Level That You're Friendship Is At. The Same Way The Word "Nigga" Has Been Turned Around We Did The Same Thing With Bitch. 7.As A Young Women What Would You Like To Share With Other Girls Growing Up? Never Doubt Yourself Or Your Worth. I See So Many Young Women Nowadays That Subject Themselves To Abuse And Negativity in Their Lives And Don't Even Realize It.Honestly, Some Of The Young Girls In Their Hearts Honestly Feel Like They Can't Get Anything Better Or Even Deserve Anything Better. Realize That You Do And You Can. It All Starts With Loving Yourself And Realizing That You Are Better Than What You Receive. 8.What Are You Working On Now & What Do You Want To Do In The Future? I'm working On A Few More Poems. Waiting Until Everything Is Completely Ready So I Won't Have Anyone Waiting For Like Three Months For Another Poem Lol. I Know I Don't Have The Biggest Fan Base But I Love Anyone Who Loves My Work (Numbers Really Don't Matter). I'm Also Working On Songs And Trying To Get Into The Studio Whenever There's Some Free Time In My School Schedule. In The Future, I Want To Work More Closely With Yong Girls. There Aren't A Lot Of Role Models In The Everyday Community Anymore. We Have Celebrities But Kids Need Someone That's In Their Same Situation And Can Relate To Them. 9.Are You Going To Vote This Year? How Important Is It For Young People To Vote? Yes! I'm Very Excited To Vote In The Upcoming Election. In 2008, I Was About 6 Months Shy of 18 So Sadly, I Couldn't Vote. Young People Voting Is So Important .More Of Our Issues Are Being Brought Up In This Election (School Grants, Loans, Government Assistance) Are All Up In The Air Depending On Who We Vote For. 10.What Would You Like The World To Know About Kyra Sneed? I Want The World To Know Me. The Real Me. I've Experienced Many Times In My Life Where The Perception Of Me Has Been So Mixed Up That People Will Get The Wrong Idea, A Totally Negative Idea. I Don't Want That. I Can Be Famous All Over The World And Rich As Can Be, But If I'm Known As An A**hole Alone With That, I Don't Want It. 11. If You Could Meet Any Celebrity/Person In The World Who Would It Be? Why? Anyone Who Knows Kyra Knows That This Is A No Brainer; Beyonce! She Has Been A Role Model Of Mine For 10+ Years. She Is Everything To Me. Her Personality, Her Wisdom, The Way She Carries Herself, The Way She Constructs Her Life In The Never Private Limelight , But Still Manages To Keep The Things She Wants Private, Private. Her Perfomance Skills And Of Course Her Voice. I Just Love Her. Thank You For The Opportunity. I Really Appreciate It!!!
