Halle Bailey is stunning as Ariel. The new 2023 adaptation of the 1989 "The Little Mermaid" is a must see. The animated version is a classic favorite but the live action will soon be as well. The star studded cast Halle Bailey (“grown-ish”) as Ariel; Tony Award® winner Daveed Diggs (“Hamilton,” “Snowpiercer”) as the voice of Sebastian; Jacob Tremblay (“Luca,” “Room”) as the voice of Flounder; Awkwafina (“Raya and the Last Dragon”) as the voice of Scuttle; Jonah Hauer-King (“A Dog’s Way Home”) as Prince Eric; Art Malik (“Homeland”) as Sir Grimsby; Noma Dumezweni (“Mary Poppins Returns”) as Queen Selina; with Oscar® winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Being the Ricardos”) as King Triton; and two-time Academy Award® nominee Melissa McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?” “Bridesmaids”) as Ursula.
I attended a private viewing of the film and I really enjoyed the film. The original story of "The Little Mermaid" is showcased with twist and turns. You never know what to expect under the sea. The music is astounding and the cinematography by Dion Bebee and special effects by Industrial Light & Magic, Wētā FX, Moving Picture Company and Framestore DNEG are incredible. Walt Disney Studios and Motion Pictures produced the film. Rob Marshall directed a great film and David Magee's screenplay is well scripted. All in all this movie has become part of the world of Disney. Get your tickets and don't miss"The Little Mermaid."
