Mogul Daymond John has mastered the power of using all of his experiences , knowledge , and drive to achieve greatness and motivate people globally. Whether he's writing book , speaking on stage , or sitting in the boss chair on Shark Tank, Daymond is a true go-getter and he wants you to be the same way. I had the opportunity to see him speak live at the "Get Motivated Seminar" in Philly in 2016. I told myself all day I'd get a chance to meet him, I didn't but I will one day . I listened closely as he told the story of his mom teaching him how to sew and creating his FUBU clothing line . As he spoke about how his life progressed over the years and how multiple business opportunities changed his life , not only was I intrigued but deeply inspired.
This morning as I check Twitter, I see a post from him , click on the link and press play on "Think It's A Game- Haters (Part 1) " and I'm so glad I did . Everything he said touched my heart. and it's exactly what I needed to hear this morning for various reasons. A lot of us deal with so many issues, rejection, self - doubt, physical pain , emotional damage and so much more. Yet we have to stop being our own haters and love exactly who God made us to be. I'm going to play this 3:42 track every morning after my prayers . This track is motivational and uplifting. No matter how hard life is , it's a lesson, and failure is a process, and we can't quit despite all of it's mishaps. Just think about it , if Daymond John didn't sit down and learn to sew , FUBU wouldn't have been created. What if he quit, he would've never been in the position be on Shark Tank and invest in other people's dreams and change their lives for the better. If he would have let failure define him , he wouldn't be able to stand on stages across the world and say things that affect people in ways they can never forget. If he would've just stopped when things didn't go his way , he wouldn't have been able to record this track that I needed to hear at this point and time in my life. So for that, I want to say thank you . So everyone listen to this Daymond John Track with DJ Dirty Harry and achieve your goals.

Honestly, every time I think about this movie nothing but pure joy and laughter comes across my mind. I covered a private screening of the film Tuesday night in Philly. The the theater was full of women and a few guys too. The excitement for the highly anticipated film was definitely felt in the theater. I brought one of my favorite girls ( my grandmother ) as my special guest. I figured it would be interesting to hear her thoughts on the film since we are 64 years apart. Might I say it was absolutely hilarious to watch her reaction to certain scenes ( just thinking about it makes me want to put crying emojis continuously in this space) . Anyways, Girls Trip is for every women just like the 1978 hit single "I'm Every Women" written by Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson , Performed by the great Chaka Khan and then remixed by the incredible Whitney Houston in 1992. This film is exactly what we needed in this generation. Each character depicted a different relative story that each lady could relate to and yet they all shared some similarities. I'm definitely not going to spoil the movie for you in this review because I want you to have the best time seeing this beautiful cast of amazing women and handsome talented men. All in all this movie is going to a favorite new-school classic. One things for sure I have to go to New Orleans and Essence Festival with my girls. From beginning to end the theater was full of laughter , smiles, and outburst from different audience members during different scenes. However, we all had a great time. I also met some really cool ladies at the screening. That's what it's about ! This film was needed. The director Malcolm D. Lee and producer Will Packer did an outstanding job along with the writers Kenya Barris , Tracy Oliver, from a story by Erica Rivinoja, who based the script off their own experiences of going out with her girlfriends . Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Tiffany Haddish, Jada Pinkett Smith, Larenz Tate Mike Colter, and Kofi Siriboe star n the film. You're in for a non-stop treat of sugar, spice, and everything right with this film. So let's go break the box office and support these amazing entertainers. So grab your girls , mom , aunt, cousins, sisters , or grandma and get the theater July 21, 2017 (opening day ) and go see "Girls Trip" .
I am a proud Sprint customer . I am very appreciative up my service as well as the numerous sales and opportunities that they provide. So I was thrilled to learn the Sprint Foundation launched the 1Million Project . The new initiative will ensure more high school students have the tools and resources they need to reach their full potential. According to statistics 70% of America's high school teachers assign homework which requires internet access. Yet more than five million families with high school students do not have internet access at home. This creates the "Homework Gap". Growing up, I remember a lot of students went to the library or stayed later after school because they didn't have a computer yet alone internet. I appreciated my family for providing me with and computer and the internet. So for the next five years Sprint's 1Million Project will provide one million free devices and free wireless service to low income high school students to complete their assignments in the comfort of their home. Sprint hopes that this initiative will help students like Armelia who travels to her aunt's home at 11pm after she returns from work so she can do her assignments online. Or, Rhea who goes to school an hour before the doors open so she can sit on the front steps to connect to Wi-Fi and finish her homework. At Sprint, we feel that we have to do what we can to erase these obstacles to learning and succeeding. The journey to fulfill 1 million students homes with internet ready devices is a big effort . This will affect the students in great way and it will bridge the homework gap . This initiative needs your help, and Sprint hopes you'll join the mission. We've made it easy. Just go online or visit a local Sprint store to make a donation. "Also, Sprint and our music partner TIDAL have teamed up so that Sprint will contribute $2 for every new phone activated thru 12/9/17 up to a maximum of $1 million to support the 1Million Project. So, there are many ways you can help us make a difference . For more information, please click here. Thank you for considering a donation of any size that will help create more opportunities for these young people across the country" . -Doug Michelman President, 1Million Project Visit for more information, and follow and support the program on social media by using the hashtag #1MillionProject.
Let me start this off by saying Happy Birthdayyyyyyyy ! Over the years Shawn Smith ( Young Savage in my heart forever lol ) has grown into such a strong, unstoppable, continuously creative, giant with the lyrics that just straight up blow your mind. Coming from the same city (PHILLY ALL DAY ) and being one of the first artist I interviewed on camera it will forever mean the world to me. Not because we're from the same city, not because he's truly talented, but because I gotta watch all the greatness that was to come . Shawn Smith has consistently showed his ability to flat out demolish any beat. I'm proud of him from his 20 minutes freestyles , to multiple mixtapes , to just rocking Sway in The Morning , to spamming people inbox and tweets with his links , to his whole Sink or Swim movement , to his project The Shawn Smith Story. I am forever proud and he's not afraid to let his love for Jesus Christ be shown and that's real ( that's what it's about we cant do nothing without God). So with that said Happy Birthday Shawn Smith ! #SinkOrSwim

Universal Pictures present the new feature film "Girls Trip" starring Regina Hall, Queen Latifah , Tiffany Haddish , and Jada Pinkett Smith. I'm loving this cast already . After watching Meek Mill's new video "Young Black America" and "The O.J Story" along with the Footnotes by Jay Z I decided to write this article. I've always been very open about my feelings about racism and the mistreatment of blacks here in America. Recently I saw a video of a black man being attacked by a K-9 regardless of the reason he was being arrested, he was handcuffed, not fighting back , on the ground and the dog was still biting him. The officer had no control over the dog at all. It made me think of the black and white Civil Rights videos I saw growing up when the dogs were attacking black people for no reason. There are so many videos of blacks being mistreated, and hashtags of victims who have been murdered by police it's beyond heart breaking . Recently in the case of the murder of Philando Castile the cop was acquitted. A murder was live streamed and there was no punishment , that is a tragedy and its sickening and continues the injustice here in America. We wait for justice and it doesn't happen. Poverty, unemployment, drugs, the school system lacking funds and credible teachers to educate students, single parent house-holds, little to no community funding, continue to create problems in communities nation wide . There are so many issues that one faces growing up dealing with these issues and some people go on to be great leaders and game changers and inspire others from the neighborhood. This only goes to show that your surroundings can either build you up, break you, or make you stronger. There is a problem here in America where black men report that their job told them "The microwave and water fountain were for white only". Sad right? Racism is still alive! Let me make this clear as I have plenty of times before there is good and bad in all people including cops. It doesn't matter what race you are, if you're a good person or a bad person it shows through your heart , actions, and character. However, if your bad it shows too. The mass incarceration of black males is modern day slavery. Did you know in 2016 black males were still picking cotton at the Louisiana State Prison known as "Angola"(the country in Africa, from which many of the enslaved Africans came who worked on the former plantation that occupied this territory). Some prisoners get paid as little as two cents an hour. The more we come together, build up ourselves and the communities the better we can be. Do not give up on yourselves. The stories that I've seen and heard from black males, my heart hurts for them. The fact that they feel as Michael B Jordan says " Being black in America is being in a tiny compressed box sinking in the bottom of the ocean with 10,000 pounds of pressure on you at all times". Listening to Marsha Ali say " The difference between black men and white men is black men move through the world playing defense". Keep these black males prayed up and uplifted. I put this Young Black America playlist together with songs from black hip hop artist whom are telling their stories, views, and experiences through music. I've also included some videos I think are important and should be viewed. No matter what we are all strong , we all face difficulty (males and females) but we have to face it and continue to push for greatness because Black Excellence is real. THE MOGUL MINUTE : FROM MARCY PROJECTS TO THE HALL OF FAME ! JAY Z 4:44 ALBUM IS PLATINUM !7/7/2017
It's currently 4:35 A.M I should wait until 4:44 to start writing about how enlightening, transparent, didactic, and epic Jay Z 's 4:44 album is. Jay Z released his thirteenth solo album June 30,2017 on his music streaming company TIDAL exclusively to Sprint customers. In January Sprint invested $200 million in TIDAL. As a proud TIDAL subscriber and Sprint customer I was ecstatic when I heard the news. The album is produced by NO I.D and Jay Z . The ten track release features Gloria Carter (his mother ) , Frank Ocean, Beyonce and Damian Marley. The album includes samples from The Alan Parsons Project, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Hannah Williams & The Affirmations, Sister Nancy, Jacob Miller & Inner Circle, Fugees, Notorious B.I.G, Quarteto 1111, Donny Hathaway, Raekwon, Toto La Momposina, and Sylvia. Jay Z also released some visual clips to accompany the exclusive release including Adnis, MaNYfacedGod, Kill Jay Z , The Story Of O.J, and The Story Of O.J Footnotes . The Story of O.J Footnotes was super interesting. The video features clips from celebs like Chris Rock, Michael B Jordan , Kendrick Lamar, Mack Wilds , Marsha Ali, Will Smith , Lil Rel and more . These men discussed racism , switching up the system, slavery, being black , success, and how there's so much pressure on black men. That impact of that video shed light on so many issues that black males face but at the same time inspires them to surpass and exceed even with the bad cards they may have been dealt .
The 4:44 album is fundamental and sincere. Jay Z released the meaning behind each song a to give listeners insight on each track. Jay Z opened up about his career, the ups and downs of his marriage to Beyonce and falling short as a husband , his childhood , his search to find God, his children , the system , investing , love, growth , business , phoniness in the industry , and surviving no matter how hard it gets . As a mogul Jay Z has conquered both the music and business world . His song "Legacy" is highly important. Not only is Jay Z a super star , he also is a husband and a father . As a young black woman, I discuss with my mom and grand-mom how important it is to have a legacy . In a lot of other cultures children continue their family business that their family owns. In some cultures it's tradition. However in the black community legacies really aren't thought about as much because surviving at the moment is hard enough. In some cases it's a let's make it through point A so we can get to point B and we'll figure out the rest from there kind of situations . In reality when you launch a business and begin to generate wealth in high levels , it changes the whole dynamic of family and takes you to new heights . I think we all should want to leave a legacy, own instead or renting or borrowing , and invest so that our future generations have better opportunities and foundations to stand on . Jay Z and Beyonce have created a way for their family to eat and be taken care of for years to come ( #WhatsBetterThanOneBillionaire? Two) The album titled track "4:44" discussed Jay Z and Beyonce's separation , his unfaithfulness, apologizing , and wanting to be a better father and be the husband she needs . Beyonce opened up about her pain and damage on her "Lemonade" album and Jay Z confirmed it on this track. Beyonce is an incredibly beautiful mother, wife, singer , and business women . Yet they are both human. They go through obstacles that we face too. I'm just happy that they were able to work their marriage out despite the hurt . Throughout the album Jay discusses his transformation from Marcy Projects in New York to fame, yet Marcy is always a part of him and that no matter his "financial" accomplishments he is STILL BLACK!. He incorporated all of his maturity , rough times , adversities , and happiness to make this ten track album . He even quoted Shakespeare's "Hamlet" Act 4 , Scene 5 with Claudius and Ophelia "Lord, we know what we are, but know not what we may be". In the Story Of O.J Footnotes Jay said "I had a strong belief in my talent ". So even though his life wasn't the way he wanted it to be as a child, he knew good things were going to happen in the future . "BAM" is another favorite of mine on the album in particular the line when Jay says "I'll line you all up with one finger wave , Make n***** weave, n***** is out here fake , Laced front to the back, don't front . Y'all gonna make me wig, I'ma give y'all what you want". The way he flowed that was just so dope! As of yesterday 4:44 has already reached Platinum status . I had a feeling it would, so I waited to write this review . Also I had a feeling some more content would be released and I was right. Jay Z has planned to release physical copies of the album which features bonus tracks . One of the bonus tracks is "Blue’s Freestyle/We Family" which features Blue Ivy rapping a few bars. She's the daughter of two of the top entertainers in the world, so boom shaka laka music in her genes. The new big sister to the Carter twins sounds adorable on her daddy's song . I can't wait to hear the full track. Beyonce also blessed the album with her amazing vocals on Family Feuds. He also released a 4:44 visual . All in all Jay Z spoke on numerous topics and also took the time to speak on issues of the industry. This album is definitely a guide and gives you a new perspective on Shawn Carter "Jay Z" . Life is all about making mistakes, trusting God, loving what he's given you and not risking losing it or taking it for granted, beating the system and not letting life's obstacles hinder you , and success not just in money or fame but being good at heart, honesty, and using your life to build , make a way for others, and leave a legacy. Congrats to the Carters. I really enjoyed the 4:44 album.
Jay Z inspired me when he said “Every human being has genius level talent, there are no chosen ones, God has gave everyone genius level talent, you just have to find what your good at, and Tap into it". So much so I designed a shirt with "Genius Level Talent" on it!
I dream it, I work hard, I grind 'til I own it
- Beyonce I bet you started singing the rest of the song right and dancing a little ? Yes, Formation! Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing actress and fashion designer Iyana Halley . The young entrepreneur and entertainer is locked in on her dream and working hard to accomplish her goals. Iyana stars as Bria in the upcoming movie "True To The Game". The film is based on the urban fiction novel written by Teri Woods. Teri Woods is an incredible author and she's from my city of Philadelphia. I can't wait to see the movie . The feature film also stars Vivica. A. Fox, Columbus Short, Draya Michelle, Nafeesa Williams , Nelsan Ellis, and Erica Peeples. The "True To The Game" book trilogy takes tons of twist and turns. Visuals for the three part series have been highly anticipated since part one. A trailer for the film ran during this years BET Awards celebration. It was time for the world to get a first look at trailer . Iyana is excited about her role and her fashion design company , "Haus of Halley (Haus is "house" in German) . So let's get into this interview with the beautiful Iyana. 1. If you could be president for a day, what holiday would you invent ? I’d want to invent some kind of day where the hard workers can get a day to fully relax. Its so many people who work hard daily to support their families and never get to have time for themselves. I know a few. This day would be a fully compensated day without the work. Instead, they’d get to travel to a local beach or spa or whatever they want. 2. Congratulations you're in the film "True To The Game" based off the book , how does it feel , what's your role ? Thank you so much! I play Bria in the movie. If you’re familiar with the book, you’d know Bria was a twin. For movie purposes my twin doesn’t exist LOL! It was so fun playing Bria though. She’s pretty sassy but she’s also really smart at the same time. When I play different roles I always find our similarities and in a lot of ways, Bria is really like me. I’m excited for everyone to meet her. True to the Game is the first feature film I did and the cast is incredible. I got to do scenes with Vivica Fox, Columbus Short and Nelson Ellis who has been in the acting game for a while. Working alongside them was a great learning experience. The whole cast was amazing. 3. If you could change anything about the entertainment industry for females , what would it be and why? Even in 2017, a lot of things aren’t equal with the women and men in the industry. If I could change something it would just be more about equality. I do see a lot more women producers, directors, etc getting the shine they deserve which is important. 4. Family is so important. What's two things have you've learned from your family that you cherish and will never forget ? I’m very very close with my family and BOTH of my parents are very hardworking. I’ve learned a lot about just being a hard worker from them. My dad literally talked about producing his OWN movie one day and fully did it on his own someway some how. My parents come up with ideas and they actually fully execute it. My mom is always so supportive as well so not only do I work hard but I realize how important it is to just be a supportive person as well. They’ve taught me so much and honestly still teach me new stuff everyday. 5. What is your all time favorite song of all time ? My all time favorite song would have to be anything Beyonce! But as of RIGHT NOW… Wild Thoughts (DJ Khaled/Rihanna/Bryson) is bumping. I can’t get in my car without playing that song! I also love the song CREW by GoldLink! 6. If you could've been in any movie from the past what would it be and why ? I’ve always loved the movie the Wood. Malinda Williams did her thing as Alicia but I could definitely see myself playing that role as well! I'm actually really in love with time pieces (where the films are from the 80’s/90’s). I recently has a small scene in a Bounce TV show where I played a younger version of a character in the 90s. SO MUCH FUN! I love back in the day roles :-). 7. What are some other things besides acting that you love to do ? I absolutely love designing! I love to go think of my own different designs in my head and go to my local fabric stores and pick the best fabrics to bring my visions to life. I’ve been designing on and off for a couple of years now. I also love shopping and I'm getting more into makeup now! 8. Social media has given thousands of opportunities to promote oneself , and inform others of their career , music , etc . How has social media impacted your life ? Social media is so powerful and I love it. As I’ve stated, I design clothes. I have an Instagram page for my designs(@hausofhalley) and simply because of my IG , I’ve received several orders and inquiries. You truly can make so much money if you use social media in the right way. 9. A lot of young women and men need encouragement to go after their goals . What advice do you have for them ? I really just have to say DON’T GIVE UP AND REMAIN CONSISTENT. That really sounds so cliche and I think everyone hears that all the time. But for those especially pursuing acting, I must say its HARD! You can go to a bunch of auditions and not hear anything for a while. Most people would give up and just think its not for them. With me, I remain consistent and keep training and simply remain patient. Timing is everything with any career choice and just because you may think its your time…God may have another time set for you. Relax. Train. And Keep going! 10. Is there anything else you'd want The Mogul Minute readers to know about you ? I have a couple of projects I’ve been working on and I’m so excited for everyone to see them. I’m new and up and coming so I appreciate the support from everyone! I’m so happy to be featured on this site and I hope that I can inspire someone to keep going and to never give up. Thank you!

THE MOGUL GIRL : USE EVERYTHING AS A LESSON! TURN EVERYTHING TO A BLESSING - WESTSIDE BOOGIE6/29/2017
Use everything as a lesson turn everything to a bLessing , I swear I'm never contesting that's God's Work - Westside Boogie
So recently I saw Westside Boogie's video for "N*gga Needs" and visually the video is not only powerfully- attention grabbing but the lyrics are real talking the hard times, being a church boy, Westside banging, finding balance, being real not being a fraud, and what's needed. After seeing the video I had to go watch his other videos and then I realized I heard "No Way" months ago. I'm sitting there like why didn't I listen to more after hearing that lit song. After listening to Thirst 48, Thirst 48 Part II, and The Reach let me just say Boogie is on my favorite lyricist list. Straight up it's just something special about his delivery, his beat choices, the topics he elaborates on in his raps, the fact that he loves and is proud of his son, you just feel something different while listening to him. Man, on "Sunroof" I literally feel like I'm riding through the Westside with my fingers through the sunroof just vibing, soaking up the sun. His music just reaches you and makes you thirst for more. I'm loving what I'm hearing from the rapper from Compton. His mix of church (gospel background) , his Compton roots , and life experiences , create undeniable epicness. You can't help but feel what he's saying. I definitely can't wait to interview Boogie and see him rap live. So I'll save the rest for the interview write-up , I gotta speak it into existence.

Tuesday night I saw a private screening of the animated film. As always Despicable Me films leave the crowd in smiles and laughter. I enjoyed the film. I'm sure you all will have a great time watching the 90 minute film. Pharrell Williams and Heitor Pereira put together an awesome soundtrack for the film. So get your tickets , Despicable Me 3 hits theaters June 30, 2017 . Meek Mill third studio album "WINS & LOSSES" is on the way. Meek has let us hear a couple snippets during his live Instagram sessions and let's just say he's in his bag with bangas!!! He just released his new single "YBA" ( Young Black America ) ft The Dream produced by Street Symphony . The song discusses various issues that blacks deal with here in America including poverty, drugs, blacks being killed by whites and there's no conviction, black on black crime, felons not being able to get a good job so they turn to the streets for money, family issues and kids not having a wide perspective only thinking they could rap and play ball instead of going to school or being a lawyer . He talks about the system , males doing life sentences , pain a mama feels when her son is gone. This song is relative for so many reasons because a lot of young black males don't have the right influences so they get influenced by the wrong things just to make it , to feel love, or try to be accepted in circles they don't belong in . The video even includes the campaign speech from Donald Trump in which he directed towards blacks and said "You're living in poverty, your schools are no good , you have no jobs , 58% of your youth is unemployed-- what the hell do you have to lose ?" . As chilling as those words are the reality is that the system wasn't designed to treat us equally or to make things better for us here in America at all. It's a sad reality but our faith in God has to continue no matter what. Meek shares a lot of his stories as well as things he's been exposed to in his music . So check out the song below and watch the video and stay tuned for the official release date of "WINS & LOSSES"
